Currently Not Collectible Status Representation

Apply for the IRS Tax Hardship Program with a Louisiana Tax Debt Relief Lawyer

If you don't have the money to pay back your taxes and do not have any reliable source of income, you may qualify for currently not collectible or CNC status. At Grand Law Firm, we can help you explore this option and determine if you have sufficient proof which is needed to seek CNC status from the IRS. While CNC status does not eliminate your debt and you will still incur interests, you can have peace of mind that no collection actions will be taken against you. Let our New Orleans currently not collectible attorneys work with you to seek relief from your tax debt.

Qualifications & Benefits of Currently Non-Collectible Status

In order to qualify for currently non-collectible status (or CNC status), the taxpayer applicant has to prove that your monthly income is exceeded by your expenses. Therefore, you prove that your hardship is severe enough that you cannot pay your tax liability under an installment agreement or offer in compromise.

There are several steps involved in proving financial hardship. Fortunately, our legal team has an understanding of IRS guidelines and definitions of what expenses are considered allowable expenses and what deductions are not recognized. We have had great success helping clients prove inability to pay in order to achieve non-collectible status.

The following may be results of achieving CNC status

  • CNC status puts a stop to all collection activities
  • CNC status lets the IRS' 10-year statute of limitations run
  • During CNC status, you will receive an annual statement but no bills
